India’s Atlanta-based consul general for the Southeast, Ajit Kumar, received a whirlwind tour of Macon May 2 on a get-acquainted visit with members of its Indian community and local officials.
Mr. Kumar’s visit included meetings with officials of Mercer University, Wesleyan College and Georgia College and State University to discuss educational opportunities with universities in India.
He also met with local business and economic development officials including representatives of the Macon Economic Development Commission, the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Development Authority and the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce.
In addition, he visited with John Hall, president and CEO of American Pride Bank, a community bank, which has two branches in Macon and one in Warner Robins.
The bank was opened in 2007 by a group of Indian entrepreneurs led by Dilipkumar “Danny” Patel, founder and CEO of Peachstate Hospitality, a family-based hotel development and management company.
